What do you think of "the iron core" of news?
Alex Jones's first chapter defines "news" clearly. Does it match your own definition? Does it make sense? How does this stack up with the public's idea of news? How does this stack up against what "the media" provides us?

Notice the Dates on Our Class Meetings?
Because we meet so seldom and human nature is what it is, we need to communicate during the weeks we don't meet.
What we'll try to do is do this through our blog. You should sign up as a "follower"--see bottom right. That way you can include comments. You do not have to use your real name when you publish a comment, but you will need to tell me what your "alias" is. (If this doesn't work, we'll figure out what does.)
I'll be learning along with you because I've never had the need to blog before.
I'm hoping we'll really make the most of it. I'm hoping to--at the very least--post news quizzes on it, so that you may e-mail your answers in return (if posting comments doesn't work).
